For an Aviation Museum website I run, I used the classic Standard editor to solve a tricky audience problem. Our desktop visitors tend to be an older generation who want clean, highly structured layouts, whereas our mobile traffic is dominated by 30-somethings looking for quick tour information. Wix allowed me to easily build two distinct user experiences tailored to those exact age groups without overcomplicating things. It has paid off massively—our web traffic is up 20% this year, and we’ve quadrupled our visitor numbers over the last three years to become the largest heritage event attraction in our region. At the same time, I’ve been beta-building a new project for a music soundtrack website using their new generation WIX STUDIO Fully-Responsive system. Moving from the simple desktop/mobile setup of the standard editor to a fully fluid, multi-resolution layout that scales perfectly up to HD has been brilliant. To keep the project organised, I’ve set up a highly structured folder system—separating image assets by individual aircraft pages, events, partner logos, and common graphics. The nightmare begins when you actually try to place these elements on a page. The UI/UX forces you to navigate down three levels into your folder structure every single time you open the Media Manager. Worse still, Wix completely fails to remember where you were a few seconds ago. If you are placing multiple images from the same folder onto a page, you have to manually drill down through those exact same three levels of folders time and time again. It doesn’t anchor your last location. When you’re dealing with dozens of technical image placements, this lack of basic continuity turns a simple task into a tedious, time-wasting chore. Once the assets are finally on the canvas, the system is great—but getting them there is a painful, click-heavy experience that desperately needs a workflow overhaul. > > My overall experience with Wix has been highly successful in terms of end results, even if the daily workflow can occasionally test my patience. On one side, it has been a brilliant tool for driving genuine growth. By using the classic editor to build a dual-optimised layout for a local aviation museum, I’ve been able to cater to two completely different generations seamlessly. Our older desktop users get a clean, structured interface, while younger mobile users get a fast, intuitive tour layout. Seeing our web traffic climb by 20% this year and our physical event attendance quadruple over three years proves that the platform delivers real-world commercial value. On the development side, beta-building a new project on Wix Studio has shown me that Wix is serious about scaling up. It handles fluid layouts and high-definition breakpoints incredibly well. However, it isn't perfect. The clunky, click-heavy media storage system—which forces you to repeatedly dig through multiple folder layers without remembering your previous location—is a glaring UX oversight that slows down heavy design work. I also liked the organization of the software and the general ease of use. Working on the website was extreamly easy. I could make edits to our website without needing any knowledge of "coding" or anything like that. If I were just rating WIX as a website base id give it 5 stars. > > **Desvantagens**: Wix has the absolute worst customer service. We purchased an already established company through WIX and we had such a hard time figuring out why certain things were happening (ex. not being receving payouts that use to live under the old owners EIN). To get a hold of customer support we had to know exactly what to ask the AI Chat bot (if we didn't it would send us in a loop of looking at diffrent articles) or where to look for a very hidden customer support button (which is the only way to talk to an actual human). After figuring out how to contact customer support, we wanted to change how some SOP functioned (EX. payouts kept going to the old owners instead of us even after we transfered ownership) and were meet with "you have to contact each customer individually and reset their payment so you can recive that money". We have over 400 clients. We also tried to get a straight answer on how much we pay for operating on WIX (Subscriptions, emailing add-ons, user add-ons, surcharges, etc) and there was just no way for anyone to answer. It came to a point that there was so many issues we finally made the choice to just switch to something other than wix for our subscribers. We will however, be keeping WIX as our website operator > > We loved WIX when we started the buisness however, there are so many features that could be improve. We purchased all of the "add ons" had all the "premium" packages and yet, we constantly struggled and had no actual solutions presented to us by customer service.
