Native logs are notoriously difficult to parse and even harder to turn into actionable data. After implementing ManageEngine ADAudit Plus, the difference in visibility was immediate. > > **Desvantagens**: While the tool is powerful, there are a few aspects that could be refined to improve the user experience: ADAudit Plus can be quite a "memory hog." Because it processes a massive amount of real-time data, it requires a well-provisioned server. If you try to run it on a VM with the bare minimum specifications, the web console can become sluggish, especially during peak hours or when generating large historical reports. Out of the box, the system is very sensitive. If you don't spend significant time during the first week fine-tuning the alert thresholds, your inbox will be flooded with notifications for routine, non-threatening actions. A more intuitive "auto-tuning" feature based on baseline behavior would be a great addition. The UI is packed with features, which is a double-edged sword. Some menus are buried three or four layers deep, making it occasionally difficult to find specific niche settings. A more modern, streamlined "Search" function for the settings menu would save a lot of time. > > ManageEngine ADAudit Plus is essentially the "missing link" for any IT department that relies on Active Directory. The real time alerting on critical changes, like modifications to privileged groups, GPO changes, and user account changes, gives us a much faster way to catch unauthorized or unexpected activity compared to manually digging through native AD logs. The pre built report templates also save a lot of time since we don't have to build custom queries from scratch to track logon activity, account lockouts, or permission changes. The dashboard view makes it easy to get a quick health check on the domain without needing to log into each DC individually. > > **Desvantagens**: The initial setup and agent configuration took more effort than expected, especially getting audit policies properly aligned across our domain controllers so the data being captured was complete and accurate. The interface can also feel a bit dated and occasionally sluggish when pulling larger reports or filtering across longer date ranges. Alert tuning took some trial and error too, since out of the box we got a fair number of notifications that needed filtering down to avoid alert fatigue. > > Overall, it's been a solid addition to our security and compliance toolkit for monitoring AD changes.
